Now through October 31, 2019, CHA is collecting your input for the City's Historic Context Statement. and Survey. Let your voice be heard by attending a Heritage Workshop where CHA volunteers and staff will collect your comments. City of Coronado staff and Historic Consultants from DUDEK will be on hand to answer questions and record thoughts and memories.
Historic Context Statements and Surveys are planning tools for understanding, identifying, evaluating, and protecting the City’s historical resources. Context Statements provide the foundation for successful survey work. They provide an analytical framework for identifying and evaluating resources by explaining the broad patterns of the historical development of a community that are represented by the physical development and character of the built environment.
Historic Surveys are intended to identify potentially significant properties, provide the information needed to make informed planning decisions, prioritize preservation goals and objectives, and increase the public’s understanding of and appreciation for the built environment. Conducting a Survey involves archival research, development of a historic context, field survey, and recording of information from citizens like you!

The City wants to hear from you!
- A mapping tool has been developed for the public to use to provide information to City staff on locations that are significant to Coronado’s history and is available at this link: Historic Context and Survey Map
- The public is encouraged to provide any other information, historic photographs, or other information relevant to Coronado’s history via email to the City’s Historic Preservation Planner, Tricia Olsen, at firstname.lastname@example.org
