The Coronado Historical Association is seeking volunteer local Docents who will assist with fun tours and special events. The Association holds regular walking tours of the community and special lectures.
IS THIS PROJECT RIGHT FOR YOU?
This project is best for people who have an interest in meticulously gathering details from people's stories for our archives, enjoy conversations, can prompt a new question with ease, and is comfortable writing a 500-800 word article by the due date. Volunteers sign up for this project by indicating interest when they apply for volunteering or if you are already a volunteer let us know. Docents lead groups on tours the days they are scheduled. Volunteers may also choose to be involved in leading specials lectures. Docents work under the direction of Staff, or other volunteers, who will provide tour-specific training. On days of scheduled tours, volunteers will typically be asked to commit at least 2 hours. Private tours may require a longer time commitment. Docents should be comfortable interacting with participants of all ages, enjoy speaking in front of large groups, have a knack for memorizing scripts and facts, be able to walk and/ or stand for up to 2 hours and possess a basic knowledge of the Coronado Historical Association.
