What’s going on at the Hotel del Coronado? How does historic preservation fit into the Master Plan development?

If you have asked yourself those questions, join us for a "behind the scenes" look at the historic preservation underway and being planned at the Hotel del Coronado as part of the Master Plan, including restoration of the Power Plant and Laundry Building as well as the partial re-creation of the historic front porch. Hear from the hotel’s preservation architect, David Marshall, AIA, NCARB, who President and Senior Principal at Heritage Architecture and Planning, about the process of uncovering and documenting the historic fabric behind the many layers that have been added on to the resort over the years, and get a preview of what’s to come as the Hotel prepares for its next 130 years.

David Marshall, AIA, NCARB, is President and Senior Principal at Heritage Architecture and Planning. His past preservation work encompasses many of Balboa Park's prized structures, including the Spreckels Organ Pavilion, the Museum of Man, Museum of Art, and the House of Hospitality, as well as the Western Metal Supply Company building at Petco Park and the Balboa Theatre. He currently serves as Board Chair of Friends of Balboa Park and has previously served as Board President of the California Preservation Foundation (CPF) and of the Save Our Heritage Organisation (SOHO), as well as serving as historic architect for San Diego's Historical Resources Board (HRB). David has a long-standing relationship with the Hotel del Coronado as a preservation architect.
