This week’s scrapbook contains photos and notes documenting the tragic storm of 1905 that had a major impact on the coastline in Coronado. This storm and the destruction of the bulkheads that were previously put in place, led to the creation of the seawall. Initially the seawall was made of sandbags (which can be seen in the image above), but a year later rocks were put in to better protect the homes along Ocean Blvd. This scrapbook was recently digitized thanks to the California Revealed project through the California State Library.
