AAPI Heritage Month Salinas Fiesta
In the early 1960s, the Salinas Association of San Diego was established as a support network of community members from Rosario, Cavite, Philippines (formerly known as Salinas). The group has had a long-held annual tradition of the "Salinas Fiesta" that honors the patron saint of Rosario and celebrates community, religion, and culture. While the Fiesta location changes every year, Coronado's beaches have served as the gathering spot many times, as seen in these photos from 1961.

Paul Revere Williams was one of Southern California's greatest mid-century architects and was the first Black member of the American Institute of Architects. While he never had a building in Coronado, there is evidence that there were plans for a grand hotel designed by this "architect to the stars".
